Recent reports reveal that nearly 40% of supplements tested in 2023 contained contaminants or did not meet label claims, underscoring ongoing issues with product accuracy and safety, how is PharmaLinea working with quality and safety control?
At PharmaLinea, we’re addressing this industry-wide challenges with a comprehensive quality control approach. We implement several rigorous testing protocols throughout the production cycle, from raw materials to finished products. Our incoming quality control includes identification and verification of raw materials, with special attention given to extracted materials prone to contaminants such as PAHs (polycylic aromatic hydrocarbons) and PAs (pyrrolizidine alkaloids).
In-process controls include testing of intermediates, while finished products undergo thorough microbiological and heavy metal analysis. Additionally, we conduct stability studies on our own formulations to ensure product safety and efficacy throughout shelf life.

From your perspective, what are the main factors contributing to this issue within the industry?
In our opinion, there are several factors contributing to the quality challenges in the supplement industry. Among the most prominent ones is economic pressure. Due to price competitiveness, many companies prioritize low production costs, which can result in compromised ingredient quality. Furthermore, in some markets, low environmental and regulatory awareness can worsen the issue of substandard production environment, allowing contaminants to enter the supply chain. Additional factors include lack of high-quality raw materials and limited access to advanced testing technologies.
